Bracket Notes 2/21/20

Bracketology has been updated to account for some of last night’s action.

Not much on tonight’s slate. We will track a matchup between bubblish teams in the A10 when VCU (Next Eight Out, #76) travels to Saint Louis (Lurking, #82).

Notes:

Colorado (4 seed, #15) jumps up a seed line to the 4 seed line with its win over USC. USC (Last Four In Play-In, #47) drops from 11 seed to the Play-In games in Dayton.

Movement on the 5 seed line as Iowa (5 seed, #18) moves up after its impressive victory over Ohio St. (6 seed, #24). Oregon (5 seed, #19) drops to the 5 seed line after its loss in the desert to Arizona St. (10 seed, #37). That win moves the Sun Devils into safer horizons onto the 10 seed line.

Seed line movements down for Michigan St. (6 seed, #21) and up for Utah St. (11 seed, #43) based on game outcomes last night.

Northern Iowa (11 seed, #44) suffered a tough road loss at Indiana St. (NR) and moves a few notches on the seed list, but remains on the 11 seed line and still has a very viable at-large resume should it encounter more difficulty in the Missouri Valley Tournament. However, the margin for error certainly narrowed.

We’re tracking a few new teams lurking around the fringes of the lower bubble, which is basically just an expansion of the coverage universe as we move down the stretch. It’s highly unlikely any of these teams would be considered for an at-large bid but stranger things have happened. Welcome lurkers Texas, South Carolina, Furman, SMU, and Saint Louis.
